Product Overview

The Tornado is a Grade 1 English willow senior bat with a pure cane handle and a mid-to-low sweet spot. The blade is pressed to balance power and longevity, then sealed and finished by hand. At roughly 2lb 9oz with a mid profile, it rewards drives through the line as well as cuts and pulls off the back foot.

Grade 1 willow carries 6–8 mostly straight grains — a marker of a clean, well-seasoned cleft that performs early and holds its ping. The pure cane handle damps vibration and gives a light, lively pick-up, so the bat feels alive in the hands without sacrificing control on defensive shots.

It ships unprepared. Like every natural-willow bat, it needs knocking-in and a light oiling before it faces a hard cricket ball (see Care tips). Supplied with a fitted bat cover.

Care tips

Knocking-in & in-season care

An English willow bat must be knocked in before facing a hard ball - it compresses the surface fibres so the willow can take impact without cracking. Allow around 6 hours for a senior bat.

  1. Apply 1–2 thin coats of raw linseed oil to the face, edges and toe. Avoid the splice and stickers. Leave 24 hours.
  2. Knock the face and edges with a bat mallet, light at first, building pressure over several sessions.
  3. Round the edges by striking at an angle so they harden and resist seam impact.
  4. Finish with short throw-downs using an old ball before match use.

In-season care: re-oil lightly every few weeks, store in the cover, and never leave the bat in a hot car or damp kit bag. Avoid cheap or wet balls and concrete surfaces.
