A cricket chest guard fills the protection gap that most club batters overlook until they face a short ball at pace. Standard batting pads cover the legs, an abdominal guard covers the groin, a thigh pad covers the thigh - but the torso from hip to collarbone is exposed unless a chest guard is strapped underneath the shirt. Our cricket chest guard range covers junior and adult sizes in strap-on designs that sit flush against a base layer, using high-density foam over the ribs and sternum where a cricket ball hurts most. Every chest guard in the collection is designed for match use against hard-ball bowling.

How to choose a cricket chest guard
Who needs one. Any batter facing bowling above 70mph should wear a chest guard - that covers most adult club cricket. Junior cricketers playing hard-ball age-group matches at under-15 level and above benefit significantly from chest protection as bowling speeds increase. At senior league level, a chest guard is standard kit.
Strap-on vs vest-style. Most chest guards are strap-on designs - a foam panel held against the ribs by two elasticated straps around the torso. These fit most body shapes, can be adjusted mid-match, and slide under a shirt without bulk. Vest-style chest guards integrate the foam into a full compression vest; they don't shift during play but cost more and need size-accurate ordering.
Foam density over the sternum. The sternum and lower-rib area are the priority impact zones. Look for chest guards with high-density foam (HDF) or a rigid PE outer shell over the centre of the panel - not just uniform foam. The edges can be softer foam for comfort and flexibility, but the middle needs genuine impact protection.
Size to the torso, not to the shirt. Measure around the chest at the widest point and match our size chart. A chest guard should sit flush against the body without gaps above or below the main rib cage - a too-small guard leaves the lower ribs exposed, a too-large one rides up during movement and exposes the abdomen.
