FAQs

BS 7928:2013 is the mandatory minimum for UK organised cricket. All helmets in this collection - the Helmet Blue HQ, Helmet Blue LQ and Helmet Red LQ - meet this standard. Do not use helmets that are cracked, damaged or more than a few years old.
Wrap a soft tape measure around the head approximately one centimetre above the eyebrows and ears at the widest point. The measurement in centimetres maps directly to the size chart on each product page. See also our junior cricket equipment page for general junior sizing guidance.
The Helmet Blue HQ uses a more robust shell, better ventilation and a more refined fit system. The Helmet Blue LQ and Helmet Red LQ meet the same BS 7928 certification with simpler construction. For regular match play, the HQ is the better investment. For school or occasional cricket, a standard certified model is a practical choice.
Most junior helmets cover head circumferences up to approximately 57–58cm, broadly corresponding to ages 13–15. Transition by head measurement, not age. Browse our full cricket helmets collection for adult sizing options once a player reaches this stage.
Replace immediately after significant impact, when padding is compressed, or when the shell shows wear. Replace every three to five years regardless of visible condition. A correctly maintained kit - helmet, batting pads, batting gloves and cricket protection - is the foundation of safe junior cricket.
