FAQs

An outer thigh pad covers the front of the leading leg and stops short-pitched balls angling into the body. An inner thigh pad covers the back-leg thigh, protecting the gap between the batting pad and the abdominal guard where balls often squeeze through.
Thigh pad shorts don't slip during running between wickets and sit flatter under whites, which most adult players prefer. Strap-on pads are cheaper, adjustable mid-match, and work with any base layer - both offer equivalent impact protection if foam density is matched.
An inner thigh pad is strongly recommended at senior club level. Short-pitched balls that squeeze between bat and pad regularly impact the inside of the back-leg thigh, and the batting pad does not cover this area. Junior cricketers often rely on just the outer pad.
Measure your waist at trouser level in inches and match it to our size chart. Strap-on pad straps adjust across a 4-6 inch range, so a slightly loose measurement is fine; shorts-style thigh pads are sized more precisely and need an accurate waist measurement.
A quality thigh pad lasts three to five seasons of regular club play. The main wear points are the straps (on strap-on designs) and the foam compression at the primary impact zone - replace the pad when the foam no longer rebounds or the strap-loops begin to tear.
