Cricket bat protection is the cheapest insurance you will ever buy for your most expensive piece of kit. A bat travelling loose in a kit bag takes knocks from spikes, pad buckles and helmet grilles on every trip to training; in a damp bag after rain, untreated willow absorbs moisture and permanently loses its responsiveness. This collection covers the Bat Cover for junior, Harrow and Short Handle bats alongside our English Willow Tornado and Hurricane bat models, so you can set up proper bat care from the moment of purchase. Every cover uses moisture-resistant materials with ventilated panels to prevent the two most common causes of premature willow damage: transport impact and moisture accumulation.
Why Choose Our Cricket Bat Protection?
- Simple, Effective Protection: The Bat Cover prevents transport knocks, moisture absorption and UV exposure - the three most common causes of premature bat damage - at minimal cost relative to the bat's value.
- Correct Size for Every Bat: Junior, Harrow and Short Handle covers ensure the bat fits snugly. A loose-fitting cover provides less protection than a correctly sized one.
- Pairs Directly with Our Bat Range: English Willow Tornado and Hurricane bats are available alongside covers - set up complete bat care in a single order.
- Moisture-Resistant and Ventilated: Cover materials resist moisture transfer from damp kit bags, while ventilated panels prevent accumulation inside the cover during storage.
- Free UK Delivery Over £100: Add a cover to a bat order and qualify for free UK delivery.
Key Features
- Padded Impact Zones: The Bat Cover includes padding over the face, edges and toe - the areas most vulnerable to damage from hard items in a kit bag during transport.
- Breathable Lining: Ventilated panels allow airflow to prevent moisture build-up inside the cover when the bat is stored between sessions.
- Lightweight and Compact: The cover adds minimal weight and bulk, making it easy for junior players to use consistently without adding to cricket kit bag load.
How to Choose Cricket Bat Protection
Match the cover to how the bat travels. If the bat sits in a structured cricket kit bag with a dedicated sleeve, the slim Bat Cover is sufficient. If the bat travels loose in a duffle or car boot, choose a padded cover that absorbs harder impacts and protects the toe and edges from cracks that shorten the bat's life.
Size the cover to the bat, not the size up. A cover that is too large allows the bat to shift inside it, meaning padding may not align with impact zones during transit. Junior cover for Size 4–5 junior English Willow bats; Harrow for Harrow bats; Short Handle for full adult English Willow bats.
Ventilation matters for storage. Cheap sealed covers trap moisture from damp kit. Willow sitting in a sealed, wet cover for 48 hours will stain, swell and lose its pressing. Choose covers with mesh panels or breathable lining, and keep a bat care kit for regular oiling and maintenance.
New bats need knocking in - a cover does not replace this. No cover protects against an unbroken English Willow bat facing a hard ball. Use a cricket bat mallet for a minimum of four to six hours before any net or match use. A cover protects the bat between sessions; the knock-in prepares it for play.
